PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE’S FORMATION IN THE PROCESS OF TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES
Abstracts

Introduction. This article discusses practical aspects of intercultural competence’s formation in the process of teaching foreign languages and proposes a set of tasks and task groups aimed at the develop-ment of such types of speech activity as speaking, reading, writing. These tasks train students for contacts with representatives of a foreign language culture, and also increase general awareness in the field of intercultural communication, which ultimately contributes to the formation of intercultural competence. The purpose of the article is to consider aspects of the intercultural competence’s formation among students in order to train them for a meeting with manifestations of a different culture.

Materials and methods. The main research methods are the analy-sis of methodological literature on the problem in the works of Russian

 

and foreign scientists; pedagogical project method, diagnostic techniques, including observation, questionnaires, testing, data processing methods.

Results. The results of the pedagogical experiment revealed that the indicators of the intercultural competence’s formation and readiness to meet manifestations of a foreign language culture at the post-experimental stage increased significantly. The analysis of the pedagogical experiment’s results confirmed that the formation of readiness for intercultural communication is possible.

Discussion. It is noted that the formation of intercultural competence and readiness to meet manifestations of a foreign language culture will be more successful if a special complex that contributes to the formation of intercultural competence will be introduced into the educational process.

Conclusion. On the one hand, the pedagogical experiment showed that it is noted by students an increase in the level of intercultural competence’s formation. On the other hand, the pedagogical experiment showed readiness for intercultural communication.
